Augusto Betti
Augusto Betti (1919–2013) trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna under masters such as Giorgio Morandi. After initial success in figurative painting, from the 1950s he turned to artistic experimentation, creating abstract works with innovative materials, including the “cassette” and “semisfere” series. He collaborated with cultural centers and various scholars, participating in important exhibitions and artistic circles, but above all, he dedicated himself to teaching in his hometown Faenza. At the same time, he created innovative furniture and design objects, which were presented at international exhibitions. Appreciated by his illustrious contemporaries, Betti’s work remained largely unknown due to its reticence, modesty, and character. Since 2022, his production has been rediscovered and enhanced with new exhibitions and re-editions of his design pieces.
