Paradisoterrestre is pleased to announce its participation in the first edition of Salone Raritas, new initiative driven by a strong curatorial vision and set to make its debut from 21 to 26 April at Rho Fiera Milan on the occasion of the 64th edition of Salone del Mobile.
Salone Raritas. Curated Icons, Unique Objects, and Outsider Pieces is a bridge between special production and the design market, a new platform devoted to limited editions, unique pieces, antiques, fine craftsmanship and high-end creative manufacturing, curated by Annalisa Rosso, Editorial Director and Cultural Events Advisor of Salone del Mobile.Milano, with the exhibition design by Formafantasma.
Paradisoterrestre stages a dialogue between art and design, between poetry and function, to narrate the material and cultural legacy of the eclectic and revolutionary Bolognese entrepreneur Dino Gavina, the brand’s historic founder.
Presented for the first time the limited re-editions of Ore Tre, Mezzanotte and Rombo lamps born from the multifaceted imagination of surrealist artist Roberto Matta; an addition to our catalogue where you can also find his functional works of art Margarita and Sacco Alato, created for the Ultramobile collection conceived by Gavina in 1971.
Also on display is a very rare screen tribute to André Masson (end of the Seventies) from our Historical Design Selection: from an idea by Gavina, functionality – guaranteed by the rigorous structure designed by Japanese architect Kazuhide Takahama – and poetry – a silkscreen print inspired by the work of the French painter – coexist in this decorative and separating element.
A cascade of white wave-shaped fringes descends from above: the ceiling lamp Garbo by Japanese artist Mariyo Yagi, a light sculpture symbolizing grace that moves with a breath of air.
The exhibition project is completed by a living room by Carlo Scarpa.
A 1970s vibe evoked by the combination of limited editions and historical pieces.
